“These calendars are a nostalgic nod to ones I would have known from growing up in Trinidad, and distributed by merchants in anticipation of the new year. They often featured Hindu deities, and I thought it was a way to rescue “Shivatose Abe,” a photographic project that I worked on for months, but upon its cancellation decided it didn’t really fit the show. The calendars were going to be distributed to press as part of an invitation to the original show, and comprised the original exhibition’s run dates. Once the show was cancelled, I decided to repurpose them here, with the postcard originally printed for the show.”
