“The exhibition’s cancellation came in the midst of other losses–shortly after the death of my mentor and a best friend, and just before the sudden end of a heady romance–and about the only creative outcome from all of this was a new play that is really about my frustration with the choice of sanctimoniousness as a political practice, I think it’s what got us here. The risograph is from one version of God of Whimsy that featured theatrical curtains, before it evolved into something else. The play feels deeply intimate, and I’m almost afraid to share that level of vulnerability; sharing a single page of its early draft was as far as I could go.”
