In ths project, Herrmann’s photographic self portraits examine the thin boundary between public and private space, and how the line is blurred in settings such as hotel rooms. The in-your-face sexualized images –hard ons, jock straps, and sex toys– depict the misadventures of Herrmann in various hotel rooms. The artist’s exhibitionism is complicated by the sense that he is also hiding: an averted gaze, a cropped head, a questioning text.
